Wax on, Wax Off

So on Friday the Thanksgiving festivities were out in full force. Yup all the necessary requirements were there, turkey, mashed potatoes, friends. I don't what it is about the holidays where I allow myself to eat until it hurts...Not to the point where I enjoyed my dinner, but until it is physically painful to eat anymore. I don't get it. It is really a habit I probably should kick. I read an article that on average, most people gain 1lb between Thanksgiving to the New Year in every year of their adult lives, and that this extra weight is rarely lost. This is one of the results of an obese population. You think about it...1lb from 20-50 is 30 lbs over weight. Ya I think that I may try to eat less during Christmas. Hmmm, down here in the land of the Kiwi, the Christmas holidays coincide with the middle of summer, resulting in smaller dinners or lunches. I wonder if their have been any studies liking the timing of the seasons, holidays, and population health issues. Well if not someone should have a look. Well, other than being a pig, the dinner was really nice. The majority people who came were friends of ours who were away from their families while they were in NZ. It has been nice to relate to others who are going through the same thing as me and it makes my whole time here a lot easier. I might have packed it in and moved home by now if it wasn't the case. Anyways I'm off to the gym to get huge and work off those extra calories from the 3 helpings of dessert on Friday. Here are some helpful tips from Mens Health to help you keeping your figure from not turning into a muffin during the holidays.

Finally went and say the new Harry Potter movie. Since the 4th book is my favorite in the series I new that it was going to be hard to recreate on screen and keep fulfill my expectations. While it wasn't as good as the book it is definitely worth seeing. It is a more streamline version of the book and, while the climactic scene wasn't what I envisioned, I really don't think that it could have been done much better and is probably the best movie of the series as well. It has been tearing it up in the box office as well and is the first huge hit of the season.

It is a sad day for all Karate Kid fans as Pat Morita, aka Mr Miyagi, passed away. There were many moments as a kid play fighting in our living room trying to chick each other in the head, mimicking the Karate Kid crane. Yup, plenty of skinned knees and drop kicks off the couch were as a result of this movie. I might have to do one more crane for him....Sweetass I'm out of here!
