It makes you think
Had a meeting today with a company that has a really interesting business model. This company is a conglomerate that owns multiple companies worldwide. They have an extremely flat corporate structure where each of the business units is run with entrepreneurial focus. Rather than the typical combination to achieve economies of scale and achieve synergies, they try to keep the entrepreneurial drive. Overall, they turnover a billions with each business contributing a small amount. The end product is a lot of small business with the legal/financial support that allows them to grow. This strategy has worked wonders for them, but isn't the "sexxy" way they teach you in business school. It is really one of those things where "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
