DUB SEE

I woke up yesterday feeling like total ass...In the words of a Kiwi "I was crook". The weather has gone to shit and it seems like everyone has gotten some sort of cold. Podge is coming tonight for a weekend of boobery and dabautchery so hopefully any poisons I consume will kill the bugs inside.

I read an article showing that home court/ice/rink advantage in sports churns up the body's production of testosterone, thus increasing aggression and energy levels. The theory believes that this stems from the primal need for home territory. Researchers stated, "Humans might be just like rodents and lower animals when they defend their home territory, being more territorial in a venue they're more comfortable with". The research also stated that, "there have been a couple of studies showing that athletes at home have a better mood profile, meaning higher vigour and confidence and less anxiety, lower depression, lower tension and lower fatigue". I guess this could go in Germany's favour at this world cup and explain why South Korea came out of no where 4 years ago to make the semi finals or why only 2 of 12 game 7's in the Stanley Cup finals have gone to the away team. The Oilers were doomed!

I have been lucky to have a TV in the office during these sports playoffs and apparently I am not alone. IBM Canada has allowed programmers to watch games via their computers at work, hopefully reducing sick days and increasing moral. I know that since I don't have cable I haven't been wanting to miss work.
