There is an orgy of great sporting events on over this month. Like any sports fan, the excitement and anticipation remind me of myself at 7, waiting for Santa to bring me a wonderful present. Firstly, ESPN has decided to pick up the Stanley Cup finals. I didn't know this had happened and stumbled upon it at work and was able to "listen" to game 2. The Oilers got blown out and it seemed that they were pressing too hard, causing them to laspse defensively. Hopefully, McTavish brings them together and refocuses for the next game.
The World Cup of Soccer started last night. I have started to watch "football" and this is a great sporting event. I had no idea that more people watch this than the summer Olympics. A lot of investment banks have studied that work productivity and people taking their sick days to watch matches. Me and a few friends have done a pool and drawn teams, and I got Brazil. Bring in the winnings. Tonight is England's, first game (my favorites). They play at 1am so I may have to stay up and watch it.
Next weekend, I am going to watch my first international rugby match. I am going to see the All Black play Ireland. It should be pretty sweet. Rugby is HUGE here and people go mental over it. A few years back I went to a Super 14 game (rugby professional) which was cool but this should be ssssssssooooooo much better.
