The changing face of sport
The globe and mail had a fascinating article about how the University of Alberta's medicine and engineering department inventing a devise that can regrow human teeth. This tiny ultrasound machine roughly half the size of a nail on your baby finger, will be able to gently massage the gums to stimulate growth of the tooth root. The custom-built machine, which can be mounted on a tiny braces bracket or a plastic removable crown, needs to be activated for 20 minutes a day for a total of four weeks for results to be noticed, according to the researchers. This devise has received approvals from American and Canadian regulatory bodies, and now the work continues to get the tiny product ready for the dentist's office and people's mouths.
This hits pretty close to home with me since I got my first tooth chip at age 10 and, throughout my teens ended up knocking out 1 tooth and chipping a "few" more. Thank god for my parents dental insurance because I would be an ugly bastard if it wasn't for good 'ol Dr. Callen.
