So I have no been in Auckland at my new job for a little a week...Things have been pretty good so far. For the first I was staying at a friends place. It was hard to find a place when I was in Palmy. I know that I wouldn't rent to someone that I had never met. So for the first time in my life I had to couch surf. Yup, for my first week as an investment banker I was sleeping in a sleeping bag on the floor a small Auckland apartment. To be honest it really wasn't that bad. Gail lives with a couple of guys who are pretty sweet. Both of them are in the same position as me...you know, young professional in a first real job. However, these guys have exposed me to a subculture of pick up psychology. Well the OZZIE read this book called, "The Game-Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists" by Neil Strauss. Well they are obsessed with this book and, to be honest, it is quite intriguing. Its basis is based up developing routines to manipulate females. Me, being quite skeptical, really didn't think this sort of thing worked. However, we went out for drinks on the weekend and the decided to practice their routines. Well, to make a long story short, a woman was heart broken at the end of the night. I was fully amazed and now think that I may have to have a read and absorb the wisdom. Hmmm although I am already taken, I wonder if this kinda thing can work to maybe "Get me Beer" rather than "Take off your pants"...hmmm.
Also I ended up having a really weird conversation with a British dude who is on his round the word travels. He just left SE Asia (where, I do want t visit and not want to live) and started telling a story about a friend of his who worked at the resort he worked at who had been stuck in the SE Asian drug trade. Apparently, his friend was kept drugged up on heroine and made to smuggle drugs from Cambodia in the bodies of dead babies. It fucking blew me away. Ya, it blows my mind sometimes over the shit some people tell me after about 10 minutes of talking. While it is fully entertaining, sometimes I wish I just didn't know.
And....Adam Morrison from Gonzaga has the best hair and moustache around. I have a TV in my office and ESPN was playing the Bulldogs game today. It was rad.
