NCAA, Work, and Ramblings

So I thought that I would just drop a few lines and some random things that have been going on while I watch lost...I am so hooked its pathetic. For those of you in the Northern Hemisphere I don't want to know shit. The show has been so frustrating this season because everything has been moving so slow. It is really driving me mental.

Anyways, I have been lucky that my office has a big screen TV, and my boss is sweet with me having it on as long as I get my work done. It has been sweet since I got to watch the NCAA tourney in a couple years...Watched the finals which was quite a let down after the rest of the tourney. I guess, like everyone else, I hopped on the George Mason bandwagon. I was really pulling for them. I read an article about how their economics department is home to 2 recent Nobel laureates and they started describing the game theory of attending a Mid Major school and incentive. Haha I you are an econ geek and sports fan it is pretty good read . George Masons recent success can be attributed in the following way,

"He figures that George Mason's recent success has to do with the incentives facing the very best young basketball prospects. Elite players commonly drop out of college to join the NBA early, meaning the advantage enjoyed by top college programs able to recruit them is smaller than it was. What is at work may be a version of what game theorists call "prisoner's dilemma." Elite players may have more incentive to position themselves to be hot NBA prospects than to do the things -- pass the ball around, for example, as opposed to shooting -- that would make their teams more successful. George Mason's players, who have been long-shot professional basketball prospects, may have fewer competing incentives and might therefore be more inclined to work as a team."

Shit...Lost is a recap episode. This totally makes my earlier rant more relevant. I don't know if I can take it. I turned down quiz night for this...Oh ya, I just read an article the other day in Maxim about Evangeline Lilly, you know Kate the prisoner off the show. Well she went to UBC the same time as moi, and, for some reason I think that she was in my only history class (according to the search I am doing right now she did International Relations and Poli Sci)...Hammy it says that she was a waitress at Earls as well. Hammy I wonder which one because I have some friends who worked there. It could also be the hot girl in Kev's class who he asked if he she wanted a shot at the title. I am going to have to do a little networking....

Ok enough of the tangent. Take a look at this blog about being a woman living in Baghdad right now. It is the first, and definitely not the last, blog to be nominated for a literacy prize.

Enough is enough...I'm out
