Southern Cooking

So I am waiting for my ribs to cook up. I have been excited all day, waiting for the moment to gnaw the meat off the bones of a former cow. Oh so good. You just feel so manly eating a dinner with your hands. I don't know what it is but the only way it could be better is if I killed it myself this morning. Oh how good would that be. This is going to be the way to top off a good weekend.

Friday night I had a hockey game. I don't know what it is but I really haven't been all that motivated with this new team. Things are getting better now that I am getting in decent shape but I really don't seem to click with a lot of the guys. Its hard when a bunch of them are 18/19 and don't have a clue about anything. Hopefully it gets better. Well we destroyed a team 8-1 which always makes me feel better. We were tied at the end of the first half and then we just took off. I got 1 goal and 3 assists which is nice to pad the stats. I do love scoring goals.

Got called into work yesterday to work on a deal that has been on again/off again. As of now it is on so we had to get things ready for a board meeting on Monday. The weather was shit yesterday so it didn't really bother me. After work I headed over to the shore and went for dinner with Nick and James. We made some mojitos and had a man feed of prawns which was great. I also got to try the great NZ "white bait" fritter. It is a fish patty made of white bait, a small fish (like a minnow) that is a delicacy. It was really good. Something you have to give a try to if you get the chance.

We went for a few drinks in the city afterwards. I am so over the bar scene so I bailed fairly quickly. I really wanted to go for a big run this morning. If I am going to run this marathon I can't have too may boozing nights on days before my weekly long run. As such, I woke quite refreshed this morning and churned out a solid 14km run in 1hr 20 min. I am definitely not going to win any speed records with that but I am happy with that time at the moment. On my run I ran past a stadium near my place and noticed that there was a NBL basketball game on this afternoon. NZ has a semi professional league where a lot of Ausie/Kiwi and a few US college players play in from March to July. A lot of these guys use it as a warm up for their pro tryouts later in the year. The skill was alright (Canadian Uni) and it only cost 5 bucks. Surely going to make it to another game sometime.
